FAQ
Quick answers to common questions about on-site shed builds, permits, site prep, and options.
Common Questions
Small Sheds (100 sq. ft. or less) Small sheds are perfect for the basics—push mowers, rakes, bins, holiday totes, and maybe a bike or two. If your garage is packed and you just need extra space to clear the clutter, this size does the job without swallowing up your backyard.
Medium Sheds (100–200 sq. ft.) Need more than “just storage”? Medium sheds are the go-to for most homeowners. They handle bikes, tools, and larger equipment, with enough room left for a small workbench or hobby corner. It’s the best balance of space and footprint—organized, practical, and still yard-friendly.
Large Sheds (200+ sq. ft.) If you want room to move around, large sheds deliver. They’re great for riding mowers, ATVs, bigger tools, and full workshop setups. With the extra square footage, some people even create a gym space or project area. If you’ve got the yard for it, a large shed can feel like a true extension of your home.
We build on-site in your backyard. That means we can work with tighter gates, awkward corners, and tricky yards where a delivered shed would be a headache.
Just a few basics:
Your ZIP code
Where the shed is going (rough spot in the yard)
The model + size you’re leaning toward From there we’ll guide the rest.
Pretty level, within 6" is what we come prepared for. A small slope is usually manageable, but the shed needs a solid, stable base so doors work right and the building stays square. If you’re unsure, send a photo/video and we’ll tell you what needs to happen before build day.
Yes. A concrete slab or patio can be a great base if it’s level and sized correctly if you are wanting to use concrete as the floor in the shed. If you have concrete and want our treated floor to sit on top of that, we’ll confirm measurements and placement, so everything sits right.
Most standard sheds are typically built in a day or two depending on size, options, and site conditions. Larger builds or heavy custom work can take longer. We’ll give you a realistic timeline up front.
Your standard build includes the core stuff that matters—solid framing, clean trim work, quality siding/roofing, and a floor that’s built to take real use. Options like windows, ramps, lofts, upgrades, and special finishes can be added as needed.
Yes. Door size/location, window packages, ramps, lofts, shelving, lap siding, transoms, overhang upgrades—totally doable. If you have a weird use-case (motorcycle shop, pool house vibe, backyard office), we’ll build around that.
We offer upgrade options that save time and keep things looking sharp longer. If you want a specific look (pre-finished colors, upgraded siding styles, etc.), tell us what you’re after and we’ll price it clearly. A standard build will come fully caulked, and the exterior is pre-primed and ready for paint. Use exterior 100% acrylic latex paint.
Rules change by city and county. In most areas, permits depend on shed size and where it sits on the lot. You’re responsible for verifying local requirements, but we can help with the basic info you’ll likely need (size, footprint, general description) to make the permit process easier.
